Pumpkin walk

In the little town we live in they have a yearly pumpkin walk. We've never been before, but decided this would be the year to finally go. We left the twins behind but took my sister in law Jen and her husband R. There were thousands of people, the line stretched around one building and another and another, who would have thought so many people would want to see pumpkins? Thank goodness we had decent weather. Finally, we found the end of the line nearly two blocks from the entrance. The line moved quickly, but it still took us over an hour to reach the front. Peanut and Walnut had fun, we bought hot chocolate and popcorn and spent the next hour wondering along the path admiring the two thousand or so hand carved, lighted, pumpkins.

They had everything from the traditional Jack O'lanterns to pumpkins carved to look like Harry Potter and Bob the Builder (a particular favorite of my boys). What a fun family outing. I think we'll make it a yearly event to attend, but maybe next time we won't wait until the last night to attend!

It was so much fun. We're glad we went with you! I got some great ideas and can't wait to win the pumpkin carving contest between HeRoos and Me!
That's awesome. I especially loved the "welcome" pumpkins in your first picture. Very cool.
P.S. My parents are fine in SD. No one in my family was evacuated, thank goodness, but on one day my dad said he could see the flames from his porch (the fire was only three blocks away!). Kelly said it was pretty crazy down there; dark all day long, and parking lots everywhere were turned into "ranches" for everyone's livestock. Our stake center was an evacuation center, and aparently they got pretty bombarded. Anyway, everyone is fine now, people are able to go back home and begin the process of rebuilding. What a shame. I guess it's just one more of those "signs of the times" huh?
